My 2013 Oscar Nominations Coverage

Well, the longest day of the year has officially come and gone.  Yep, Oscar Nominations Day is always   a fun, but tough day to get through. This year, I woke up at 1:30am so I could get to the theatre in time to set up at 3am.  By 4am, I was happily eating bacon and a Jamba Juice in preparation for the big announcements. (By the way, Jamba Juice and Coffee Bean sponsored the beverages this morning.  That's a first and it was totally appreciated.)

No heels until showtime.  A girl has to be comfy at 4am.

As always, the nominations came at a fast and furious pace for a total of 8 minutes.  Seth MacFarlane and Emma Stone were completely charming and I am excited for Seth's hosting gig.  Then the nominations came and wow!..... there some major snubs.

Here's my article on the Snubs and Surprises for SheKnows.

It's great catching up with old friends.  Megan Telles from ABC Las Vegas.

This year, after giving my video assessment with The Academy's nominations, I was lucky enough to interview legendary film critic Leonard Maltin and the executive producers for this year's show, Neil Meron and Craig Zadan.  The producing duo gave me some great inside scoop on what to expect for this year's show.

Here's my video coverage for Starpulse.

And my pal Luz Peña from MundoFOX

Finally, my favorite thing to write is the behind the scenes scoop that you miss while watching the nominations on TV.

So, here's what you missed this morning with my Top 5 for SheKnows.

The dress was $74.99 retail, but I used Ebates to get additional money off.

The Dress:

This was the winning dress! Congrats to Robin who picked this "Luck Be a Lady" dress from Modcloth.  It fit like a glove and the PR team from Modcloth agreed after they saw my photo on Twitter.  Robin gets a $25 gift certificate to the store of her choice. (By the way, I added a thicker belt versus the skinny belt the dress came with to slim down my waistline on camera.)

As for the Shabby Apple dress, Jennifer picked a beautiful dress for me.  However, the one that was sent to me was not the champagne color, it was gray.  The lining of the dress didn't match up with the lace, so it was poorly constructed.  I was pretty disappointed in the overall quality.  So, Jennifer has great taste, I just wish the Shabby Apple dress was exactly the same as what we saw online. The good news is that Jennifer can relish in the fact that she won the popular vote.  Her pick received 58% of the vote.

Finally, I had fun with James Molnar of Gold Knight Blog who assessed the Oscar Nominations in a fan chat for Spreecast.  Do you agree with our picks?

My awesome cameraman, AJ, who did a great job shooting all of the videos today.

Media Mondays

My final big shoot of the year...dressed as Mrs. Claus.

Here we are with a new week after a very tough weekend.  My thoughts are with everyone in Newtown, Connecticut.  Your sorrow is all of our sorrow, we grieve along with you.

My media events from last week:

Tom Barnard Podcast:  You never know where I am in LA when I do my radio hits.  I was in my car in Orange County about to go on set for a Kia shoot.  Take a listen.

On the set of 1600 Penn at Bill Pullman AKA President Gilchrist's desk.

SheKnows:  It was a fun week working with SheKnows as I hit the Golden Globe nominations and the set of NBC's new show, 1600 Penn.  Here are the articles from the those events:
Golden Globes Snubs and Surprises
Top 5 Things You Didn't See on Golden Globes Nominations
1600 Penn Set Visit

Reunited with my Toyota Live co-host, Matt Troyer, for a Kia shoot.

Spreecast:  I chatted with James Molnar of Gold Knight Blog about the Golden Globes and SAG nominations.  See our thoughts on the tight awards race:

An early morning with Megan Fox, Ed Helms, and Jessica Alba at the Golden Globes nominations.

I was tired that morning...

The Radio Dish:  Catch me talking about "swatting" in Hollywood.  Don't know what that is? Miley Cyrus, Simon Cowell, and Ashton Kutcher have all been victims of this latest trend. Listen here.

My New Year's spot for Kia...

My cat is still drinking out of the tree stand.

Don't forget it is #RadioBurtt night.  I will be on Driving with Gass at 6:35pm PT/9:35pm ET on KWSS.org.  Listen live!

I'll be back tomorrow with an end of the year giveaway, so come back and join me for some fun, free goodies!

Behind The Red Carpet Live: Episode 2

It happened. I made an official call on the Jennifer Aniston Baby Bump Watch.  Plus, I had a great guest, James A. Molnar, editor of The Gold Knight Blog and Film Editor of the Toledo Free Press.  We talked box office, the Olympics, and the crazy off-screen Twilight drama.

Oscar Friends

You come to this town with a dream. To stand on that red carpet.  To feel like you belong.  To be in the mix with Hollywood's elite. That ride means nothing unless you are celebrating amongst friends.  This post is a tribute to all of my friends who joined me on that red carpet last Sunday.  I love that you were there with me......

Misty Kingma, fellow Red Carpet Report entertainment reporter, and me.

Me and Taryn Southern who was broadcasting for US Weekly.

Me and Dennis Pastorizo of Terra Networks.

The man behind the camera, JD Piche, thanks for all of your hard work last week!

My awesome pal, Jordan Carson, from WOTV-4, Grand Rapids.

Oscars Week: Day 4

This is one of my favorite events of the week:  the Governor's Ball Food and Beverage Preview with Wolfgang Puck.  I always come hungry and ready to taste Wolfgang Puck's delicious food that he plans to serve to all of the nominees and winners after the big show on Sunday night.  This year was rather interesting since the tent where the event was happening was hot and the reporters were rather cranky.  Watch the video to get the inside scoop on what happened, it's pretty hilarious.

Also, it is great to be in such great company with all of my entertainment reporters.  I have met so many incredible friends from this experience over the last two years.  It is even sweeter when friends from other parts of the country get to enjoy this unbelievable journey with me.  So, any moment spent with James Molnar of The Gold Knight Blog and Jordan Carson of WOTV in Grand Rapids is such a thrill for me to share fun memories on the red carpet with them.

Hanging with my pal, Jordan, on before the Food and Beverage Preview.

Oscars Friday Five

Here's an Oscars Friday Five to help kick off what is going to be a very exciting week in Hollywood.  It will be filled with interviews, multiple wardrobe changes in my car (which I am getting quite good at.) and meals on the run.  I can't think of a better way to spend my week...

1. News Talk 690:  Tim Lewis labeled me a "red carpet diva"-the best compliment ever.  Listen to our interview and see the article.  Tim asked incredibly insightful questions and I really enjoyed my time on air with him.

2.  Red Carpet Report:  My insider's look at the Best Actor and Actress Oscar race. Who did I pick?  Find out:

3.  Kodak Theatre:  If you heard the news this week, the Kodak Theatre name is coming down due to Kodak's bankruptcy issues.  I am going to refer you to this post I did in 2009 and I mentioned my love of this theatre in my recent feature in The Gold Knight Blog.  The theatre has a significant role in my career and I will be sorry to see the name go away.......

4.  Chagoury Couture:  I'm not ready to reveal my Oscars dress until February 26th (Trust me, it's gorgeous!), but I want to give a little love to Marco D'Angelo and Gilbert Chagoury for continually dressing me every time I have a big event.  My Oscars dress last year was executed divinely and my Tonys dress was probably my favorite dress of 2011.  Go visit their site and see what everyone is raving about.

5. Reese Witherspoon:  Check out my iVillage interview with the 2006 Oscar winner, Reese Witherspoon, about her new film, This Means War.  The movie is a fun ride and if you are looking for a fun romp at the movie theatre this weekend, buy a ticket to this flick. (And after seeing her in person, she's definitely not pregnant.)
