The Oscars: 5 Things You Didn't Know

As you know, I've been around Oscar activity all week long. I've been sleuthing around trying to find a few details about the show. Here's what I dug up so far.  Remember, things could change at the last minute because there is a rehearsal tomorrow morning, but as of Saturday afternoon, this is what I heard:

1.  Barbra Streisand is performing the Marvin Hamlisch-written "The Way We Were" as a tribute to the deceased composer and all of the other artists we lost in 2012.

2. Barbra is being dressed by her longtime friend and designer, Donna Karan, who has been buzzing around the star's house getting her outfit red carpet ready.

3.  They are restaging "Cell Block Tango" from Chicago with Catherine Zeta-Jones leading the way. (One of my favorite numbers ever in a musical theatre piece.)

4.  Seth MacFarlane will be crooning at some point during the show. Rumor has it, he sounds just like Frank Sinatra.

5.  The orchestra will not be housed at the Dolby Theatre. There just wasn't enough space for them. They will be playing at the Capitol Records building down the street. (This has been confirmed by WSJ  Online.)

I also released the names of the SYTYCD kids who are performing at this year's show.

Rock of Ages: The Interviews

If you are a musical theatre geek like me, get thee to the theatre this weekend to see Rock of Ages.  I promise, you will love it!  Check out my article for Fanboy Comics which includes an interview that I did for iVillage with stars Julianne Hough and Diego Boneta.  As a bonus, check out my interview with Catherine Zeta-Jones about who she modeled her politician wife after......you might be surprised.

Fanboy Comics article here.

For excerpts of my interview with Malin Akerman, click here.  It was featured in the Father's Day piece for iVillage.

If you see Rock of Ages this weekend, leave me your thoughts on the film on Facebook, Twitter, or in the comments below.

Stars Dish On Their Fathers' Best Advice

Father's Day is upon us, and throughout the last few months at iVillage, we have been asking celebs about the best advice their father gave them.  Hear what the stars have to say and see if any of the advice resonates with you.  You will see a sneak preview of my interviews with Julianne Hough, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Diego Boneta, and Malin Akerman from Rock of Ages.  The full interviews will be up in the next couple of days, but enjoy this little sampling.  I also interviewed Chris Hemsworth and Lily Collins for this piece, all of the other interviews were done my by iVillage colleagues.  So, enjoy the piece......or at least enjoy Chris Hemsworth.....Thor!

For those of you who are So You Think You Can Dance fans, join me tonight on AfterBuzz TV at 10PM PT as we discuss the show, the dancers, and what to expect this season.  Watch here.

The Friday Five

Well, it's been quite a week here at Red Carpet Closet!  I've answering your comments and Tweets all day, you are keeping me busy and I like it.  Keep it up!  We chatted about baby bumps, Thor, life after porn, and beauty.  Here are a few other things you may have missed:

1.  Dark Shadows: I saw the movie on Sunday night and as a fan of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, I was a little disappointed.  Find out why in the article I wrote for Fanboy Comics this week.

2.  Giveaway:  We have TWO winners!  Congratulations to Karen W. who won the gift bag and to Maureen G. who won the Sanuk footwear.  Make sure to take a photo and I will post it.

3. Viral Video:  I caught the battle of the "Call Me Maybe" covers.  I know the Harvard boys started it first, but I think the SMU ladies win for their upside-down creativity.  It's going to be hard to get this song out of your head, I'm warning you.

4.  Munich:  I'm going to Germany for a job in August, so I plan on spending some time in the country after the job ends.  Where should I go? What should I do?  Most importantly, what should I eat and wear should I shop?  I am open to suggestions, so let me know in the comments below or on Faceook or Twitter.

5.  Rock of Ages:  I am not a fan of Tom Cruise--never have been even going back to his Top Gun days. THIS movie has me excited and it's starring Tom Cruise along with a whole host of familiar faces including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Alec Baldwin, and Julianne Hough.  It looks spectacularly cheesy and I can't wait to see it.  Watch the trailer and tell me if this looks like a campy disaster.  The film opens June 15th.

Have a great weekend!  See you all on Monday.
